On a constantly changing stage, two large trampolines face Plexiglas walls that act as mirrors. Seven circus performers tumble about on them, bouncing back and forth. They defy the laws of weightlessness.
These acrobats are looking to push the “walltramp” technique even further by combining it with other acrobatic disciplines (lifts, banquine, counterweight flying, etc.). They break free of conventions and push the boundaries of imagination while showcasing both their individuality and their collective spirit.
Face aux murs is a mirror. A mirror held up to our present time and our future, a mirror to our condition and an unpredictable world, a mirror to our ego and the Other.
For ten years, the Toulon-based company Hors Surface has been championing a new kind of circus, one that is multi-faceted and acrobatically demanding. Accentuating the poetic and the visual, the company, which is directed by Damien Droin, develops extraordinary stage designs and boasts a unique creative language that combines original musical composition and high-flying choreography. The company’s artistic approach questions the changing nature of our spaces and our relationship with reality.
