“One’s identity is not established once and for all; it is constructed and transformed throughout one’s existence.”

Cirque Baraka has embraced this quote from Amin Maalouf as the basis for their show Ocho.

Bringing together artists from the four corners of the world, this performance supports the idea that our personalities are the fruit of a thousand choices and a thousand encounters over time.

Under a big top, seven circus artists demonstrate this principle in a joyful and universal theatre of the body. The choreography includes hand-to-hand balancing, aerial dance, head balancing, and acrobatic stunts. The performers take over the space, playing and singing in several languages. The music is omnipresent and exhilarating.

This performance bears witness to the richness of the differences within people, the essence of our humanity. A person doesn’t have one single personality, they are a cocktail!
