Weaving a link with the local residents, listening to them, drawing them, and recreating a snapshot of their neighborhood in a show. That’s the aim of this visually oriented circus devised by Sébastien Le Guen.
For three days, the high-wire artist and illustrator sets up in a public space. With his tightrope and his caravan, he doesn’t go unnoticed. Sébastien trains for several hours, and spends the rest of his time sketching the stories people tell him.
From these encounters, he draws several portraits. Gradually, his drawings take over the space.
On the fourth day, he presents a performance combining the hire wire, the words, and the drawings. It’s a joyous moment that further enhances the bond between the artist, the public space, and the community.
“I’m entrusted with a lot of things because I’m a stranger passing through. The little phrases and drawings convey an image of the place and its residents. In a way, I’m doing a bit of sociology.” Sébastien Le Guen
