To leave or to be left. To shatter into pieces. To lose contact. This show pokes fun at the many meanings of “break up” (to “rompre” in French). Whether it’s an accident or an upheaval, whether it’s dramatic or liberating, break-ups punctuate our lives.
On stage, four artists tell us their own stories. They bring together circus and theatre, the art of the body and the art of the spoken word.
They each look back on decisive moments in their lives. A pulse racing, a slap in the face, a stabbing word, then relief. The performers take turns supporting each other, putting up with each other, getting on each other’s nerves. Before ultimately helping each other.
“A joyful compilation born of a meeting of comedians and circus artists, À tout rompre is about… break-ups. On this potentially serious theme, the show weaves narratives and entertains, offering a mischievous and clever dramaturgy. “

The WAS Groupe brings together two circus artists (Vincent Brière and Voleak Ung) and two actors (Alice Vannier and Sacha Ribeiro). They met in 2017 during a workshop initiated by Alain Reynaud, the artistic director of the La Cascade national circus center in Ardèche. Since that encounter, they began paying close attention to each other’s work. As they each developed their own shows and performances, it became obvious they should create something together. À tout rompre is the result.
