Feu [Fire] is a performance by an acrobat and two musicians that is a mix between a race, a concert, and an athletic feat. Created for the Festival d’Avignon 2023, this multidisciplinary show imagines fire as a stimulus, an irresistible urge to move, and an explosion of vitality.
Dressed in boxing robes and surrounded by smoke and other fire effects, the saxophonist Morgane Carnet and the percussionist Xavier Tabard bring dozens of instruments to life. Meanwhile, an unknown emergency forces the acrobat Fanny Alvarez into frantic movement. She climbs, descends, and suspends herself in mid-air. The three of them play with everything and they play hard. They burn off all their energy before starting all over again. All three seem to be improvising. And yet…
“It’s a feast of objects that appear out of nowhere, so many things are brought into play, taken out, picked up and put down (…) She regales the audience with a positive energy that feels good and slows everything down (…) an old-fashioned smash-up, just the way we like it!“
Emmanuel Serafini – Inferno magazine – 20 July 2023
Please note: due to the loud noise levels, this show is not recommended for the very young.
