Inspired by the films of David Lynch, Fritz Lang, and Alfred Hitchcock, Raphaëlle Boitel has imagined her show Ombres Portées as a work of cinema. Situated somewhere between circus, theater, and dance, this performance plunges audiences into the heart of a family and its unspoken secrets. It’s a powerful story told with physical prowess that evokes laughter and tears.

The performers, all circus artists, are at once actors, dancers, and acrobats. They appear and disappear in a play of light and shadow. With scenes that unfold to a stunning soundscape, they evoke a quest for identity, destinies that are turned upside down, and the fragility of balance.

This show is a veritable artistic epic. It shakes up the fears and hopes buried deep within all of us.

Biography

In 2012, Raphaëlle Boitel founded the company L’Oublié(e). The company creates a physical language embedded in a visual universe expressed in the three dimensions of the stage and intended for all audiences. The works blend different artistic disciplines: theater, circus, dance, music, and film, all with a refined use of light. The tragic and the comic are brought to life through profoundly metaphorical writing.
