After astounding audiences with their high-energy show Lexicon, the Welsh company NoFit State Circus returns with a new creation that is just as wild. Under the big top, nine exceptionally talented artists shatter the traditional circus conventions as their performance is accompanied by three musicians.
In a series of spectacular scenes, they interweave diverse circus feats: acrobatics, hand-to-hand balancing, hoop, Chinese pole, slackline… These high-flying routines evoke a world under severe duress, one that is beset by multiple struggles such as population displacement and the climate crisis. These essential issues are addressed with audacity.
Originally from Wales, NoFit State Circus has played a pioneering and iconic role in the development of the contemporary circus in Great Britain. Its shows, directed by Firenza Guidi, combine music, theatre, and special effects. The company’s gargantuan performances are perfectly executed.
For one hour and thirty minutes, it’s a veritable festival, with something going on in every direction, and you don’t even know where to look because there’s so much going on everywhere. | Tout Lyon
