In this creation, three short plays that are performed in three different venues (indoors, big top, and outdoors) combine to form a single show. Trilokia is a poetic exploration of humanity’s relationship with the living world and the three parts — Ieau, Ferfeu, and Harbre — are all performed by the artistic alchemist Jani Nuutinen.
The creations are composed of fantastical images, and audiences are transported inside them as if they were in a dream. A cross between dance, acrobatics, and object manipulation, the performer becomes a magician trying to master the elements. He transforms a space into a sheet of rippling water, defies fire, seeks to enter into communion with a tree.
With each of these three parts, he recounts a story about humanity. With each of these three parts, he recounts a story about humanity. And he beseeches us to take our time and to escape the urgency of the world.
Finland’s Jani Nuutinen is an “artisan of the circus”. Trained at the CNAC national circus arts centre in Châlons-en-Champagne, he founded the Circo Aereo company in France in 2002. For more than two decades, he has been creating shows that combine object manipulation and magic.
