Events, encounters, decisions: they shape our lives, they protect or imprison us. In this performance, Alice Rende examines these notions in a space that is, to say the least, restricted.
Within a Plexiglas box, the Italian-Brazilian artist uses the strength of her arms to slide along four transparent walls and explores her limits, our limits. Her body contorts. Her face becomes deformed.
The box becomes a space for acrobatics, dance, balance, and illusion. It offers the artist a multitude of visual possibilities and she uses it to create a thousand images.
Is she free or confined? Is she near or far? Passages is a unique experience that plays upon gravity with humor.

Biography

Through her company Ar, which has been based in Aix-en-Provence since 2022, Alice Rende works on contortion as a sensory act that is capable of questioning and transforming the constraints people are subjected to and how these constraints manifest themselves in our bodies.
